Candles: Differences between plant waxes and paraffin wax
Why We Choose Plant Wax Over Paraffin
I'd like to share my personal journey with candles. In my younger days, I observed my great-grandmother and grandmother using oil lamps — a practice that still continues in some homes, particularly in altar or worship areas.
During my youth, I used paraffin wax candles until I launched my online store, Eden of Frodo & Elvis, in 2006. It was then that I transitioned to using 100% soy candles made in the USA, after discovering their health benefits. Throughout my life, I have struggled with sensitivities to heavily scented items and fragrances, which have sometimes triggered asthma-like breathing conditions. Over time, I found ways to manage these symptoms by being mindful of my choices and incorporating breathing exercises into my routine.
Having done my own research, I made the conscious decision to exclusively use plant wax candles — such as those made from coconut, soy, or rapeseed — for their health and environmental benefits. There are many informative articles available on this topic, and I encourage you to explore them to make an informed decision that suits your own preferences.
