Candle Care & Candle Safety Tips
Candle care
1. Candles have a “memory”: To ensure an even burn / minimize the wax left on the sides, burn the candle until the wax pool reaches the edge of the jar. (usually about one hour per inch of diameter). This is especially important on your first burn as candles have a "memory".
2. Wick trimming: Trim your wick to 1/4" before every burn! This will help to prevent soot, smoke and ruining your candle. This is an extremely important step that should not be missed.
3. Burning duration: Try to avoid burning your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time! This will cause too large of a flame and will reduce the lifespan of the candle. If you notice your flame is large / dancing → extinguish, let it cool and trim the wick before every burn!
4. Glass containers are fragile: handle with care.
5. Discontinue when 1/2″ of wax remains, or when the candle will no longer stay lit as glass may shatter.
6. Extinguish carefully before replacing the lid.
7. It is normal for plant wax (such as soy, coconut, rapeseed and so on) candles to have a flaky crusty appearance on the tops once they have been burned.
8. Frosting is normal for hand-poured candles and is caused by temperature fluctuations. It does not affect the burning or the quality of the candle.
9. Air bubbles may appear in pure plant wax candles due to temperature changes, but they do not affect the candle's quality or burning.
